    Why I Don’t Do Devotions

    July 7, 2020 / No Comments

When I was a fledgling Christian, I was advised to do devotions. Twenty years later, I don't do devotions anymore. Here's why.

God is Still a Good Daddy: On Trusting in the Truth when We are Tempted to Doubt

    March 20, 2020 / No Comments

Today, my son told me through great tears: "God is not a good daddy." It was if the bottom fell out of my heart. Because I've been there. I think we all have been there. During this season of uncertainty, we are more susceptible to believing the Great Lie that God is not good. We need to confess that doubt and be extra vigilant to meditate on the Truth. God is, indeed, still a good Daddy.

Why “Going to Church” is Unbiblical and Correcting our Christian Phraseology Matters

    June 30, 2019 / No Comments

There’s one phrase that’s really been getting under my skin lately. I’ve spent most of my life saying it. I think all of us who identify as Christians have. We’ve mentioned it to our co-workers when they ask about our weekend plans. We’ve said it to our neighbors when they ask where we’re off to so early in the morning. We proclaim it to our children when we drag them out of bed first thing on a Sunday. “We are going to church.” Church Defined According to Merriam-Webster, there’s nothing wrong with the statement. Church is most often defined as: “a building for public and especially Christian worship.” And this…

    Spring Cleaning the Mind

    March 23, 2019 / No Comments

I love having a clean house. But, boy, do I hate cleaning. The thought of dusting makes me groan. Polishing hardwood floors on hands and knees makes me tense. Sudsing up dishes, scrubbing toilets, and vacuuming the rugs are arduous to me. The only time I ever gave my husband the cold shoulder was the day he suggested I clean the windows, as if I had nothing better to do. I think the reason I loathe cleaning so much is because it is never finished, especially since having kids. I feel like Sisyphus, stuck in an endless cycle of fruitless labor. Sometimes, it seems like so much work that…

Meet Kristin

Hey! I'm a wife and mama of two beautiful kiddos. I believe in the power of words, beauty, faith, grace, and love. While I love to theorize about and strive for parenting ideals, I value the art of keeping it real. Thanks for reading.
